Whenever we are talking of Rheumatoid arthritis we are talking of an auto immune disease where the body’s immunity level instead of attacking the foreign substances seem to mistakenly attack the body’s synovial membranes. These fine membranes surround the joints which when attacked cause the inflammation to thicken. This abnormal immune attack seems to damage the cartilages and various other organs as well; especially the heart and kidney. In most cases extreme pain and fatigue leaves the patient bed ridden.
At present time more and more people are attacked with Rheumatoid arthritis because of two major reasons; Obesity and the environmental triggers. When we talk of environmental triggers we are actually talking of certain behaviors such as smoking because smoking creates certain chemicals with citrullination. When you smoke the combination of smoking and having certain genes like the SE gene make Rheumatoid arthritis more likely and more aggressive when it does occur.
